30 Day Drive: I Have Neutrophils

Picture me dressed in a pair of boxers, with an unshaven face and head, running around my room waving a pillow cover screaming the above. Kinda like the hospital version of Tom Hanks “I have got fire!”, in Cast Away. Well as of this morning “I have got Neutrophils!”

My Dad and I joked about yesterday being a significant day for me, as it was Day 13 of my Transplant and the number 13 has always been good to me, starting with the day I was born and continuing on now for quite some time. I said that Day 13 must be the TSN Turnaround.

Now all this is a little pre-mature and we are perhaps getting a little excited about things, but you can’t ignore what a good sign this is, and so early. During my First Transplant I didn’t have a Neutrophil count of 0.2 – as it is today – until Day 30. Unlike Toronto I don’t have hard and fast rules and guidelines about when the Docs will be comfortable to let me out, as you know it’s day to day, up here. But so far this one is taking shape nicely.

I’ll be heading out on a day pass very shortly and will be in touch again soon to keep you in the loop about the blood counts.

Take care and have a good one.

Always…
