30 Day Drive: What If I Told You…..Friday?

Let’s just say… Friday. Wait a minute, that felt so good, I’m going to say it again… Friday. Any idea what I’m talking about? I bet you do, but I bet you don’t believe it at the same time. That’s right, I had a conversation with my Doc this morning and he blew the socks off my Mom and me by saying that “all things flow, we’ll see if we can’t get you home on Friday.”

Well, it’s right about at that point that I picked my “socks” off the floor and launched an ear to ear grin that I happened to notice my Mom also wearing, and then, well, and then I thought of all the possibilities. All of the things that I would do upon my arrival on my beloved rock. I have a mental list and I’ll keep it running all week, and I’m willing to bet that one of the first things I’ll do will to be kiss the ground.

Now for my dose of reality… we have many obstacles left yet, but they are very attainable. First things first, I need my neutrophils, which are our immune system’s primary defense against infection, to hit 0.5. At present, I’m not sure where we stand but I know my overall white count is 0.7. Second, then I need to get off the antibiotics and have 48 hours of infection-free living, and by infection- free I mean no temp spikes over 38 as that is the most telling indicator that I have an infection. And finally, the Docs would like to see me have 3 or 4 days with an Out-Patient history before giving me the boot.

So that’s where we stand as of this morning’s big news. I presently have a tentative flight booking home for Saturday, but my cautious, optimistic approach to life wouldn’t be surprised if I am delayed, just a little while. Either way, I think the matter at hand is that I’m in shock, and loving it!

The current plan is to have me have my late-night dose of drugs in the hospital and to then come home to sleep in my apartment for the first time in what seems like a month. Then, I’ll head back to the hospital first thing in the morning for more blood and drugs at which point I’ll hopefully be ready to make the jump to Out-Patient. But that jump is only a guess for tomorrow, being the experienced Patient that I am, I know anything can happen with my counts within 24 hours. But we’ll set the vibes and energy to Positive and see what the morning brings.

You can count on hearing what the morning brings when it arrives. Happy evening / morning.

Always…
Live Life. Love Life.
