Survivor Conference 2008

From October 16-20, 2008, 25 survivors and seven supporters from seven provinces came together in Calgary, Alberta, for the second Annual Survivor Conference (SC).

The SC provides a supportive environment for survivors to connect and deal with longer term challenges resulting from their cancer experience; to help participants develop a plan for survivorship; and enhance their connection to the community.

During the conference, YACC staff and professional facilitators work with survivors to help them become tomorrow's advocates, each working in their own communities across Canada to show that there is life after cancer.

The Survivor Conference builds on the program developed at Retreat Yourself and assists in the transition between treatment and survivorship.

The goal of the Survivor Conference is to assist survivors in making the rest of their life, the best of their life.
