Driven to Fight Cancer

Posted By WAYNE CAMPBELL , TRIBUNE STAFF

Two Bay Street lawyers from Niagara hope to raise $30,000 for two cancer charities as they put the pedal to the metal on Newfoundland roads this September.

Rob Hansen of Pelham and Dean Novak of St. Catharines will team up in a 1999 Mazda MX-5 Miata for their first Targa Newfoundland road rally.

The legal team has direct competition. A pair of investment bankers, Brent Layton and Gabriel Riff form a second team for what they call Hammerhead Motorsports. They’re driving a 1992 Miata.

The four are stirring up donations for the Pediatric Oncology Group of Ontario (POGO) and Young Adult Cancer Canada (YACC).
