Continuing to progress

Long time between writings this time. Usually you all say that if I am writing frequently it is a good indication that I am feeling well, however this time it is the opposite as I have been feeling really well this past week. Due to my feeling well I have been as active as I can remember in the past year plus. I have seen some who I haven’t in a long time and watched my old team, P.W.C. play a couple of games. You know about my meeting with Ms. Drodge, and since that time I have made a few calls to other ladies at the Healthcare Corp., but surprisingly I haven’t heard from them yet.

However the most exciting part of my week was going Ski-dooing yesterday afternoon with my Dad and brother. I haven’t been in the country and the fresh air like that in quite a while and it was really good. You have heard me say this before most definitely, but sometimes you don’t realize how much you miss something until to do it again for the first time in a while. Yesterday was one of those times. Days like yesterday make me think I could be one of those guys who lives by the rule, “he who dies with the most toys wins”!!

While my “social activity” has been increasing I have also started a little routine that sees me walk, lift weights, and stretch on consecutive days. This cycle seems to be working well for now so I will keep it for a while. My only touch of doubt is that I am now back on a little higher dose of Prednisone, which you know, and at some point I am going to start to drop the dose again and I am wondering how it will affect my body. As last time it wasn’t an easy 7-10 days.

I remain on 5 medications, Fluconazole (once a week to fight fungal infections), Didrocal (daily to help maintain my bone density/strength), Folic Acid (daily, but is actually a vitamin), Prednisone (daily, to continue to help prevent Graft Versus Host Disease), and Pentamidine (once a month to prevent pneumonia and CMV). While it may sound like a fair bit of medication I am on really low doses of everything and hopefully it won’t be too long before I can say goodbye to some of them.
