Day 70 – Not Too Long Hopefully

Hey there everyone sorry I didn’t get back to you yesterday, I was called back to clinic for a Magnesium transfusion, nothing major 2 hours and a little burning in the hands and feet, but it made for a long day. That combined with the fact that I am in the middle of a low energy period made it difficult to get a message out to you all. A good conversation with Dr. K brought another little catch 22 in the picture as he explained that our goal is to have me in a stable and acceptable state, with regards to both my blood levels and how I’m generally feeling. So far the second one hasn’t been a big problem it’s those packin’ blood levels, which he expects to return within a week or so. It is his feeling that my current drug levels the results of my marrow and our progress thus far should combine to boost my levels in a relative short period of time. Assuming of course that my cultures and other blood test continue to be negative. I feel in my gut that this will be the case, and while a time is not something I have in mind I do feel it will be soon. The catch 22 I was referring to relates to my timing and departing, i.e. once I reach the comfort level and get the go to leave, Dr. K explained that I should plan to leave within a relatively short time frame as the longer I stay the higher the risk for further complications. The nature of the game we are playing is to have me a condition that is stable not perfect and waiting a long time after reaching a “plateau”, so to speak, may result in drop from that plateau and a removal from the “OK to travel status”. Thus my earlier thoughts of maybe staying here for a fixed period of time as opposed to leaving according to my condition, may not be a good approach. Simply put we are back to the week to week approach, which is fine but a little difficult as it leaves everyone hanging on the news from each clinic visit. But this again seems to be the nature of the game we are playing and we will adjust our strategy accordingly.

So we return to the weekly approach and I will keep you posted as I advance through my clinic visits, the next one will be tomorrow. I will be in three times this week as my levels are still low thus they want to keep an eye on them and look for movement in any direction. No platelet transfusion yet, which is a bonus and something I will hopefully avoid all together. Time will tell.

That’s all for today I’m never far away touch base as you wish,

Geoff
