Day 76 – Clinic and Levels

Hey there everyone, sorry for my pro-longed absence, at least it seemed pro-longed. I have been relaxing and recouping from my fairly busy past couple of days. Things are going well, my energy is coming back slowly but surely and I am keeping fairly active, exercising everyday.

I am back at the hospital tomorrow for a blood level check and to get an idea of how the next few weeks will go. The past few visits have seen my platelets and hemoglobin hold their own, nothing outstanding but acceptable none the less. My white cells have been dropping for the past few weeks and this is the major cause for concern at this point, as there are several reasons why this could be happening. As I explained, a flare of GVHD, an infection, CMV, or a drop in cell production could be causing my low levels. With a little luck my white cells will begin to rise with tomorrow’s blood work and I’ll be back on solid ground. There is no immediate cause for concern however it is the downward trend that we are looking at, and its performance over the next few days will influence my plans for the next week or so.

That said, being stuck in Toronto for another while I do plan to take in a few more attractions and pretend to be a regular guy. Of course my head has been playing wonderful tricks as my energy has been down so I will be somewhat limited in what I can do but there are lots of things to do to help the time go, which is a bit of a challenge some days.

You should hear from me after clinic.

Take care,
Geoff
