Day 93 – Lost and Found

Yes I did get lost there for a while, actually I was just on an extended leave of absence for no particular reason. I have spent the last week relaxing at home and haven’t really had much to say, which happens from time to time. I figured a week away from you all was long enough so here I am to bring you up to speed.

I was at the hospital yesterday for a quick visit to see Dr. Scully, in and out in half an hour, which was great. My levels are still stable, we have continued to drop the Prednisone bringing it to 30 mg/day and we also adjusted my Cyclosporin level, which is a continuous process as long as I am taking the drug. By adjust the level I mean adjust my daily dose to maintain the appropriate level of the drug in my system. As for the Prednisone, it occurred to me this morning that I haven’t had ‘Alice in Wonderland’ head lately, at least not for the past 3-4 days. Not sure if it has been around but in a more mild form or if it has faded all together, either way I haven’t noticed it’s presence this week which is a welcomed feeling. Maybe this is the beginning of the end for my Wonderland vacations, which would be sweet. My energy is fine, up and down but that means fine for now as it will be like that for a while. I haven’t done much but my activity has been increasing throughout the past week and I will continue to do things within my limits and occasionally push those limits.

I don’t have any real big plans for the next several weeks. However, I do plan to set-up a home office where I can begin to organize myself and my thoughts, as I am eager to get a start on a few of my immediate future projects. I plan to use the rest of the summer to organize my thoughts and solidify some strategies to tackle those projects, I’m big on strategy as you may know.

I must admit some of the drive I have had over the past several months has faded, not my drive for victory but more my drive to tackle my “to do” list of projects. Personally I feel it is related to the fact that my brain has been elsewhere since returning home but I’m not completely sure about that. I am still keen to write a book, which is probably the first thing I will start and plan to finish around April, 2001, but the rest of the things I was looking forward to accomplishing have definitely slid down the priority list. As with many things, time will tell how it works out.

I mentioned I was in clinic yesterday, my hospital schedule will be fairly light for the next while assuming things remain stable. I am scheduled to give blood on Mondays and see Dr. Scully on Wednesday mornings, all in all the whole process only took about 35 minutes this week, which was great. By giving blood on one day and seeing the Doc another I don’t have to wait for the results to go through the lab, and so far my Doc appointments have been really quick as I’ve managed to get the first appointment. No problems with my friends at registration yet as I haven’t had to register, or been asked to register. Not sure how long that will last, but I do plan to touch base with a few of the ladies I spoke with from the St. John’s Healthcare Corporation just to check on the progress of the system over the past few months. Prior to leaving I had a few conversations in which I was assured that things were moving ahead well and that my concerns were going to be addressed in the very near future, I think I mentioned these conversations in the past.

That about does it from here, I will be in touch in the next few days.

Take care,

Geoff
