We had a beautiful day down at Quidi Vidi Lake on August 5, 2015 for our fourth annual Dunk for the Brave! Patrons of the 197th running of the Royal St. John’s Regatta helped us raise $4,044 in support of young adults affected by cancer!
YACC’s Steve White was first to test out the water — an admirable act considering it was just 15 degrees that early in the morning!
Zach Goudie of CBC Newfoundland and Labrador was a dunk tank rockstar!
YACCer Kathy Stock was ready for her close up (with freezing cold water)!
YACC’s Kelly Strickland stared down her would-be dunkers. The intimidation tactics didn’t work!
Jessica Holmes is an awesome volunteer who’s always up for anything in support of young adults affected by cancer!
Buddy the Puffin of the St. John’s IceCaps popped by to visit Mayor Dan Bobbett of the Town of Paradise.
Special thanks to the St. John’s Regional Fire Department for their generous $1,000 donation.
Jim O’Toole of the St. John’s Regional Fire Department got soaked!
NL baseball legend Gordon Breen (A.K.A. “Mr. Baseball”) dunked Sean McCarthy of the St. John’s Regional Fire Dept!
99.1 HITS FM’s Brian Bradley kept his Dunk for the Brave record going with another dip!
Paddy Greene is always a great addition to our Dunk for the Brave lineup!
There was a long line waiting for Constables Curnew and Squires from the RNC!
Mark Nichols won an Olympic gold medal in 2006; we think he deserves another one for his courage and determination in the tank!
It was still sunny out as 97.5 KROCK’s Becca Chaytor took her turn on the hot seat!
Miss Newfoundland & Labrador Bridgette Abbott was the second-last dunkee! Big thanks for coming by and posing for pictures with the audience!
St. John’s City Councillor Bernard Davis was the last man in the “cold seat,” and he was entertaining and charming up until the very last splash! Watch out Brian Bradley — he’s your dunk tank record holder competition!
Missed all the fun, but still want to help out? You can still make a general online donation!
