NL Dunk Tank organized a great booth at the 195th Royal St. John’s Regatta and raised $6,620 for YACC! The early-August temperatures only reached the high teens, but 17 awesome volunteers were happy to get wet to help young adults dealing with cancer in Canada!
We had a full schedule!
Dave Lane was the first one up! The temperature at 9:30 a.m. hovered around 14, but he was a great sport, and hung around for much of the day afterward!
Bernard Davis was the second dunk of the day. Dave Lane didn’t even change out of his wet clothes before he took a few shots at the target!
Janet Kovich was third on the schedule. It seemed she spent more time in the water than out of it!
The sun started poking through by the time Kris Abbott took the seat at 11 a.m.
Great Big Sea frontman Alan Doyle popped by to watch some of the action, and he definitely got a show!
Kevin Heffernan was up after Kris (or should we say, “down”).
Constable Murphy of the Royal Newfoundland Constabulary took the seat at noon. Her uniform looked heavier and heavier after each dunk!
People were pretty excited to dunk J-LaC from 97.5 K-Rock! One pitcher even nailed three consecutive shots!
Lou Puddister takes aim at Paddy Daly, host of VOCM’s Backtalk.
Brian Bradley from 99.1 HITS FM took the seat for the second year in a row, though he didn’t get to spend much time on it!
Lou Puddister was back to dunk St. John’s Mayor Dennis O’Keefe! He bought rounds of tickets and handed them out to kids who were watching.
The Mayor had to leave early, so spectator Mike Hickey jumped in to keep the day moving along! It meant he had to walk around in wet jeans for the rest of the day, but his selfless actions really drew a crowd!
Scott Fitzgerald waits to see what his fate will be. The cooler temperatures made some participants long for the dunk since it beat shivering on the seat!
Jonathan Richler braces for the dunk.
Eli Baker lost his hat–but not his good humour–when he was dunked.
Don-E Coady’s posture says it all!
Paddy Greene showed up with a good-natured entourage who were more than happy to see him dunked!
NL Dunk Tank owner Kevin Casey was the last dunk of the day. Huge thanks to him and his team for their awesome support and help throughout the day. We hope to see you again next year!
