Effort

And a Good Monday Morning to you all. Hope you had a great weekend and are ready for the week that lies ahead. Interesting times in the world of RealTime Cancer this week as we are launching an event called Coins for Cancer. In December we formed a partnership with an enterprise class at Prince of Wales Collegiate and since then we have been organizing the Coins Drive, which is a 31-day event designed to create a mountain of coins and awareness. There will be much more information regarding the Coins Drive on the RealTime Cancer website in the next couple of days, and I’ll keep you posted as the it rolls out. Today’s message is about effort and without further delay here it is. Have a great day/week, and I’ll be back soon.

Effort

Effort, energy, desire, will. All of these words can often be used interchangeably, and for my purposes with this message they are closely related, as what I’m talking about when I say effort is your energy, your desire and your will to do something, anything. This message is not intended to be preachy but I am writing it in hopes that you will read it, stop and think about it, and make the effort to see how it relates to your life.

It is my wish that all of us will “make the effort to do the things that are important to us and the things that we love.”

It has been my experience that life requires effort. I have previously written, “Life presents challenges at every corner, they vary in significance, often according to our perspective. I feel they are present in our lives to teach us lessons, and it is our challenge to learn from those experiences.” I feel that learning from those challenges takes effort. Opening your perspective, opening your sending and receiving channels, and maintaining a positive attitude takes effort. Life takes effort.

Different elements and challenges in life require different amounts and kinds of effort, and I feel the level of effort will vary from person to person. I look at effort as having three parts: the physical, the intellectual and the emotional. Each experience will involve some combination of all three parts, and I feel the combination for a given experience will vary from person to person. For example,  me playing hockey will require a different combination of physical, intellectual, and emotional effort than writing an email.

My thoughts relating to effort that I want to share today aren’t so much focused on my views of effort and its place in our life, but more on the results of effort and my belief that it’s important to make the effort in which ever directions you choose.

“You get out what you put in”

Some of you may remember me saying that in relation to this email group. And I feel this group is a great example of that thought. Whatever effort you bring to this group will bring you some form of return for that effort. In other words, the effort you bring when participating in this group forum will directly relate to your success with the group. You can participate in any number of ways, how you do that will influence your experience with this group as well as other people’s experience with it.

I have learned that most anything worth having requires effort, and all of the lessons I have talked about and will talk about over the next many weeks will require effort to incorporate into your lives. I know they did and do for me.

It has been my experience that people can be positive or negative, and whichever perspective they incorporate into their lives they do so through choosing. Perspective and attitude are choices, and once we decide to make a choice, effort is what follows to implement that choice into our lives. From my corner of the world I feel we all can be positive, open, non-judgmental, etc., if we choose. We can be anything we choose. The key is to choose, and then follow that choice with effort. I have been amazed with the results of my effort.

Of course blind effort won’t necessarily provide desired results, we need to choose the best options for us. How we choose those options is something I’ll talk about soon, just take away the fact that I have learned and I passionately believe that we can be and do anything we choose. We create our own reality and if we are willing to put in the effort, we can move mountains. I really encourage you all to make the effort to do the things you love. Find your passion and do it with compassion.

We are only limited by our imagination and fear. Once we get our imagination running and tackle our fear, effort is the only obstacle to success. My past experiences have provided great examples of the application of these thoughts, and I can tell you that my future experiences will do the same.

Thanks for making the effort to read this message. I hope it was worth it.

Always…
Live Life. Love Life.
