Graft vs. Host Disease: What Christmas Means To Me

This is the most wonderful time of the year, and it is the most terrible time of the year. December, a month that so many associate with joy and giving is also the most stressful month of the year. I’m not sure what Christmas means to you but for the next few minutes I’m sharing what it means to me.

Whatever your beliefs or religion I feel this time of year represents giving, to yourself and others. And I happen to believe that the best gifts in this life are the ones you can give away and watch them grow within you and those who receive them. There are lots of people who are more and less fortunate than you however you wish to measure, they are in your class, your office, your family, your peer group, on the street, they are everywhere and I think this time of year is a great time to celebrate all of the amazing things you have in your life. I have learned that the greatest way for me to get in the Christmas spirit is to give my spirit away, to share it with others and every time I do it grows. Life is like that, and all the important things in life I can tell you the more you share them with others, the more they will grow within you. Your hope, strength and Love, they all grow when you share them and what better time to share them than at Christmas.

The following message is one I wrote last year around this time and I love to read it as it helps remind what this time of year is all about for me. Thought I would share.

What Christmas means to me.

Christmas means an opportunity to share your Love with others,

it means a time to be with those who care for you and for whom you care,
it means presents for and from you,
it means lights, trees and decorations,
it means friends, family and conversations
it means turkey, drinks and celebrations,

it means many things in life come to a slow,
it also means that many things in life don’t come to a slow,

it means that lots of people don’t get to be with those who care for them or for whom they care,
it means no presents for or from them,
it means no lights or trees, but separation
it means no friends or family, but desperation
it means no turkey, drinks or celebrations

it means those of us who have much Love in our life have the opportunity to share it with those who don’t have much Love in theirs,

it means a chance to make a real difference in the life of another person at a time of year that is very special and significant,
it means each and everyone has the ability to make a positive impact on another’s life,
it means that this Christmas I am making the opportunity to share my Love with others,
and it means that I am challenging you to do the same

This has been an expression of Love

Merry Christmas

Always…
Live Life. Love Life.
