In and Out

You think I’m talking about hospital with the subject of this message, well I’m not, still in hospital until tomorrow only, hopefully. I just wanted to write to tell you a little story about my day pass. Funny Story I thought I’d share:

I was out on a pass yesterday since around 1, and was planning to go to the rink to see my hockey team, PWC play in the Confederation Cup, a big high school tournament. So around 10 to 7 I went to the rink, saw my players before the game for a brief moment and watched them play a great game. We lost, which was unfortunate but there was a divine intervention, as I would say, he wore this wacky costume, black and white stripes with orange arm bands. Anyway, some of you know him so I won’t mention Sean’s last name as I’d rather you not know who I’m talking about. Anyway throughout the game I could not resist going on the bench from time to time to help out the fellas and give them a few pointers and things. There we were, playing all over them down by a goal with a minute to go, so our unknown ref called a stupid cheap penalty as I guess he thought it was his place to decide the outcome of the game. So from there I decided it was my place to leave the stands, where I was watching comfortably, and tell him what a #$&*#$#@!@@##$!%*()*&&%$^# he was and for the first time in my life I was kicked out of a hockey game!! Truth, never before have I been kicked out of a game. Of course I knew that when I left the stands to go to the bench that I would get kicked out and that it would not be a real loss as I was not coaching as usual, but just the same I was kicked out.
Now I know what you are saying, Eaton you don’t have an immune system and you’re in hospital, what the hell were you doing at a hockey rink. But it really isn’t that bad as the rink is cold thus the risk of infection is lower, at least that’s my story and I’m sticking to it. And the mental therapy was well worth the risk in my eyes. Just thought you would be interested in that story as an indication that I’m still full of piss and vinegar.

I’ll be in touch tomorrow, hopefully soon after I get out of here.

More coming soon,

Geoff
