Journey to Remission: First Steps

Hey everyone, I hope this message finds you well. I’m awake bright and early on this Tuesday morning – happens quite frequently when you have to give blood around 6 every morning. While I have been awake writing emails and adjusting the RealTime Cancer website I thought I would give you a quick update on yesterdays events.

We have begun the journey, yesterday morning my buddy Hickman and I were re-introduced and he is now firmly placed in my chest and acting as the facilitator as we progress through the early parts of this trip. Around 4 yesterday afternoon Mo came by, he is the one with great knowledge about the place called “Remission”, and I will rely largely on his knowledge and guidance.

I’m still feeling relatively fine, a little low on energy, but lying around the hospital has that affect. Mo has started to cause trouble inside as there are obviously things in me that he doesn’t think I need, so I got rid of them last night. Through my first “Series”, through all the chemo and treatment I hardly ever threw-up, lots of diarrhea (in case you don’t know I’m pretty wide open here), but hardly any other stomach sickness. I guess Mo was warning me that this trip will be quite different than any that I’m used to as my stomach was not happy last night. Once I was cleaned out I did feel much better, and am comfortable now. Not sure how this will affect my diet, but I’ll experiment today and see what happens.

All else is flowing well, my neck is quite sore from the “introduction” process of Hickman. They perform the procedure differently than when I was last here, and while it is probably more accurate, it is definitely more painful. Not big-time pain, just “pain in ass” pain. My nurses feel it will loosen up and be a little more comfortable in a couple of days.

I want to thank all of you who have written for doing so, I do enjoy hearing your thoughts and have always meant for this email group experience to be a give and take. You will continue to see my in your inbox, not sure if will be everyday, in fact I’m sure it won’t be, but it will be consistent. For those of you who have joined the My Friends Email Group from the website, thank you, and please be patient as you’ll probably receive messages twice until I make the full transition.

Hope you are great, and I’ll be back again soon.

Live Life. Love Life.

Geoff
