Localife Ottawa: Just like Jurassic Park

Doctor: “It’s bad news, you have cancer and Alzheimer’s.”
Patient: “Oh well, it could be worse – at least I don’t have cancer.”

On June 11, 2015, Localife Ottawa went to Absolute Comedy for a night of hilarity. Good thing the jokes were better than ^that^!

Earlier in the day, it was raining and stormy, but the sun peaked out at the just the right time. By the start of the event, the weather had done a complete 180 and it was sunny, and a beautiful 28C. Patios were open and the entire city was outside.

Thirteen survivors made their way to Heart & Crown, a local pub/eatery, to chat, have some drinks, and have some eats. We spent a good hour and a half talking and having a great time. There was a mix of veterans and newbies. You could tell early on that this was going to be a great night.

As we wound down our drinks, we headed over to Absolute Comedy and claimed our reservation. Although we were all stuffed, we ordered more appetizers and drinks. Like John Hammond in Jurassic Park, we spared no expense; we always keep our guests well fed and happy at Localife Ottawa.

The host for the night was the hilarious Brendan McKeigan and the headliner for the night was Just For Laughs veteran Frank Spadone. There were also two other comics that night, but brain fog prevents me from remember either of their names.

I don’t think any of us knew what to expect from these comedians, but they kept us laughing all night long. By the end of the night, stomachs were sore and cheeks were red from all the laughing. It was definitely a fantastic night.

As some made their way home — it was a school night after all — others stayed behind and talked some more. Eventually, as always, the night had to come to an end. Absolute Comedy night was a great time and we’ll definitely be coming back!

We have one more event on the calendar for this season of Localife in Ottawa sometime in July. Keep your eyes open; we’ll send out details as soon as we have them figured out.

We’ve also begun planning some amazing new events for the upcoming 2015-2016 calendar year of Localife Ottawa. If you have any suggestions of what you might like to see, feel free to drop us an email at [email protected]!
