More Firsts

The progress keeps coming, day by day I am doing more and feeling much than same, which is positive as I’m not tiring nearly as easy as I used to. While I’m not ready for Signal Hill yet, I did skate with my old hockey team, PWC, on Tuesday past. I was the first time I have been on skates since last year. I didn’t have any real apprehension towards taking my first strides and they were fine. I still remember how to skate, forwards and backwards!! Obviously I am much weaker than I am used to being on the blades, and while I did manage to slip a couple of pucks by one of our goalies, it certainly wasn’t because of the overwhelming power on my shot. I did have the stamina to stay out for the whole practice and wasn’t too
tired after. It was great to be on the blades and feel the cold air in my face, which is a much different sensation than the brutal winds we been having. It was a really good workout for my legs and I will certainly do my best to get up to practice every week.

Keeping with the PWC theme, I also coached my first game of the year yesterday. We were down 5-1 in the second and we battled back to tie it on a penalty shot with 5 seconds left. It was amazing to be back on the bench, it is something that I think I will do for the rest of my life.

The preparations for my book continue, it appears to be a very involved process that will take a lot of time, but it is enjoyable so far. I’ll in touch again soon, I’ve been thinking about another mini-series. Hope you’re up for that.

Take care,

Geoff
