New scholarship opportunity – due at the end of July

emmy duffThe Emmy Duff Scholarship Foundation is awarding a $1,500 scholarship to a Canadian student who is dealing with/has dealt with cancer. The scholarship is applicable to any Canadian school, but recipients must be returning for the upcoming fall semester.
Their website says, “Eligible candidates will have demonstrated an ongoing volunteer commitment to causes that are important to them. The scholarship supports post-secondary academic endeavors and recognizes the personal triumphs of exemplary students who have survived a cancer journey.”
Emily (Emmy) Duff was a young adult who dealt with leukemia four times between the ages of 7 and 23. Despite years of treatment, Emmy continued to attend school, and studied Communications at Wilfred Laurier University until her final relapse in December 2011. She was awarded an honourary degree posthumously in October 2012.
