One Year Ago

today I began a year that was filled with ups and downs, tremendous triumphs and life-threatening events, lots of pain and a great deal of pleasure, and some supporting, but most of all incredible support and response to me, my methods and my situation in general. I would like to thank all those who have contributed to help me be in the condition I am on this day one year later.

From the moment Leukemia was presented to me I took an aggressive approach. There was no way this piece of shit disease was going to get the best of me, I knew there would be times when I would seem to be at its mercy, but as I wrote almost a year ago “victory has never been in question”. That said I do seem to like to do things the hard way as we all know I came extremely close to loosing my series in the final game. As I approach this period of “anniversaries” I have been reading back over my emails, both those received and sent, and they have helped me appreciate where I have been and more importantly how far I have come.

I haven’t talked much with you all about my thoughts relating to my “sleep” and brush with death. It’s not something that I feel is served well through the Internet, but I do realize that for the vast majority of you that is the only way you experienced it. Someday I hope to change that.

In just an hour from now, one year ago, I was having a beer at a business reception and I passed out hitting my head. I was brought to hospital for x-rays and they did routine blood work while I was in emergency. That is where they found the problem that would lead to me spending the next 38 days in hospital. The next few days would prove to be full of new information and surprises as an official diagnosis would follow in a couple of days.

Who would have thought I would have the year I’ve had. It’s great to be here still spilling my thoughts to you all and I plan to do it for quite some time yet. Stay tuned,

Geoff
