Opportunity for breast cancer survivors in NL

From a release issued by Willow Breast Cancer Support Canada:
Willow’s Community Support Program is excited to announce our upcoming Support Group Facilitator and Outreach Volunteer Training Workshop for Newfoundland and Labrador.
Willow offers free workshops throughout Canada that provide breast cancer survivors and high risk women with the tools they need to start and sustain community-based peer support–both through support groups and in one-on-one situations.
Participants develop their communication skills and gain increased confidence through seminars and networking activities. During the three-day workshop there are opportunities to connect with and learn from others doing similar work (peers) as well as to give and receive support.
Thanks to funding from Scotiabank Group, all eligible participant expenses including registration, accommodations, transportation and group meals (from Friday dinner to Sunday lunch) are covered.
The Community Support Program welcomes applications from people interested in starting or sustaining peer-led breast cancer or high risk/BRCA 1 or BRCA 2 support groups.  Applicants seeking training for community based groups addressing other cancers will be considered, space permitting. Preference will be given to those who have not attended a workshop in the last 12 months. Approval for participation in this program will be on a case by case basis.
