Part 3

– The week I passed out and entered hospital, November 98′ – I had supper at my mother’s house as I often did during the week, however on this night I stayed and chatted until 10:30, which was very unusual as I was most often busy in the evenings. As my Mom was heading to bed she said “imagine if something ever happened to Geoffrey”. Pretty wild I think.

– Perhaps the most amazing occurrence, November 6th, 98′ (the day I passed out and entered hospital) – approximately 6 hours before passing out I wrote two good friends an email to give them a brief update on my progress, as I did with a collection of people. In that email I wrote these words “Buckle-up the Geoff Eaton ride is about to start, actually it has already started but its going to get real interesting from here on out.” This may sound a little crazy to most of you, and to be honest it is not an ordinary thing to do, but I used to make it a little bit of a habit, almost like an athlete calling his shot. Of course the interesting things that I was referring to were business related, that is what I meant isn’t it. Once again, wild to look back.

That’s my look back for today. One year ago today I played hockey and I haven’t had the equipment on since, far and away the longest absence since I first put the gear on in the early 80’s, and man I can’t wait for my return. It is one of the things I miss the most and it’s not just the game, it’s being around the rink and everything else that goes with it. I need no more motivation to heal than a pair of blades, a stick and a puck. A frozen pond might not be bad either. Hope you enjoyed yet another trip inside my brain back again soon.

Have a great day,

Geoff
