Localife is a fun, local, social activity-based group led by YACCers in eight cities across Canada. Come connect over hot wings or at a great event where the conversation isn’t always about cancer, but it’s always welcome to come up.

What is Localife?

History

Localife was created in 2012 as a way for YACCers to stay connected in a fun, social, casual way between national four-day events. Unlike a retreat or conference, there’s no “program” to help you work through cancer, but talking about it is always on the table.

Eligibility

Localife is for young adults who were diagnosed with cancer between the ages of 15-39 and are currently between 18-39. You are also permitted to bring a supporter — like a friend, sibling, or partner — who is also between 18-39 where space permits.

Support Localife!

We are always looking for new opportunities in our Localife cities! If you work with a sports team, event, or cool local business or service, we would love to get in touch about potential partnerships or opportunities. Email connect@youngadultcancer.ca to chat!

Are you in another city?

We plan on rolling out to more cities once we establish our existing markets. We’ll also have nation-wide events where possible, so please email lesley@youngadultcancer.ca for more info!

Testimonials

"I love meeting new survivors and supporters and seeing them meet their peers who have been affected by cancer as well. For a lot of people it’s the first time they have ever met other ‘young’ people with cancer. Localife is so casual. The way the events typically are set up, it just feels like a night out with friends! There is a lot of laughter, smiles and shared stories. We have had great feedback from some people who got so much out of a casual night of hanging out. "
