Rebuilding, Body and Mind: 8 Wheels

Put another first up on the board for me, at least a first in a year or more, as yesterday I laced up the roller-blades and went for a skate. Somewhere around this time last year was my last time on blades, if it was that recent even. Trying to add another dimension to my rebuilding, and the blading is a welcome one. Different exercise, and something I love to do, especially as summer threatens to hit us.

The experience can be summed up very well with one word I feel… burn! Legs, and lungs, burning. I certainly wasn’t breaking any land-speed records yesterday but at times when I did push myself a little, the legs and lungs kicked in with a nice healthy burn. For those of you who are athletic I’m sure you can relate, and personally I have developed a little love for that feeling. Almost like you really feel you are Challenging your body and are better for it.

As I continue to be conscious of my balance Challenges, I have to say that I am doing a great job of maintaining a balance. There are times when I let things slide a little but most every day I really am taking things very easy, very relaxed, still getting things done, but in first gear not fifth. I am surprised every day by how many people ask me if I’m run off my feet, as of course that is my nature, but I can honestly say that I’m not, and I have great intent on maintaining this calm state for the foreseeable future. And yes, I have said that before I’m sure, but I’m saying it again and I’ll look forward to making the effort to keep the slowed approach.

A while ago I talked about “motion” and how I really feel that people who are always in motion are so because they are avoiding things. It may be pain, tasks they don’t want to attend to, situations they don’t want to deal with, whatever. And as I have reflected on my former “mad” pace, I really feel that I was avoiding, and as I slow things down I can tell you that not only am I getting better at dealing with the things I feel need dealing, but all the things I love have the opportunity to be enhanced, as I spend more time with them. Ever hear a joke or see a show that hits you absolutely the right way, and then you repeat it to yourself a bunch of times… I always do that, and end up laughing long after the fact. That is kind of what I’m talking about here.

I can still feel my legs and lungs burning, and it’s a good burning feeling, and I’m looking forward to making them burn again tomorrow. Back soon.

Always…
Live Life. Love Life.
