Saying goodbye to Michelle

There are big changes ahead for Alberta. Not only did the NDP recently win a majority government, but we are also preparing to say goodbye to one of our original Localife leaders, Michelle Hume.

Michelle started as a Localife Calgary leader in June 2012. Initially, we were hesitant to offer her the position because she had only just completed treatment and we weren’t sure if she’d be up to the role physically and/or emotionally. However, she had a great application and came strongly recommended by a friend of YACC’s, so we decided to take the risk. It didn’t take long to realize this was an excellent decision!

Michelle is caring, sincere, creative, insightful, and hardworking. Together with her original co-leader, Colin, she was instrumental in creating a close-knit and supportive community of young adults in Calgary. After Colin stepped down, she joined forces with Kevin Yorston and together they’ve done a wonderful job of offering lots of fun, diverse events that are very well-received by the members.

Localife Calgary is a thriving community of young adults, and we want to express our deep gratitude for Michelle’s three years of service and the role she has played in Localife’s success. Michelle will finish out YACC’s fiscal year, which means her last event as a leader will be in July 2015. Michelle, is still planning to attend events when she can, so thankfully people can still enjoy her awesome energy from time to time! Please join us in wishing her the very best in her future endeavors!

Michelle’s departure means that we are actively recruiting a new Localife Calgary leader to work with Kevin. Please click here to learn more about this exciting position!
