What does Localife Victoria have in common with vanilla? Ice, ice baby!

Localife Victoria had its soft launch on January 20, 2018, and like the maiden voyage of the Titanic, we hit the ice! [Editor’s note: Thankfully, this inaugural voyage had a better outcome!]

We met at Westshore Parks and Rec and a few of us laced up the old knife boots and hit the ice, or tried not to hit the ice. Some YACCers brought their own skates and owned the rink, while some of us tried to high five for not falling over — while high fiving! Then there was me, trying to not run over the children, and probably would have fared better driving the Zamboni!

After a short lived, yet very Canadian victory lap around the rink, we headed down the road to 6 Mile Pub where we had a whole gang take over the restaurant. Anja and I made our inaugural speech as the new localife Victoria leaders, worked on our future gang signs to help us recognize YACCers on the street, and welcomed all to a new era.

Delicious food and drinks were had by all. Old acquaintances had a chance to get reacquainted and many new friends were made.

This was a wonderfully positive way to start this journey that Anja and I are embarking on. We are so excited to bring many more opportunities for everyone to get together, a few opportunities to push our limitations and get out of our comfort zones, and ample time to sit on our arses and get to know one another.

A huge thank you to everyone for taking the leap and coming out to join us, we can’t wait to see you again and again and again, and… well, you get the drift.
