We are very excited to have two active YACCtivists: Gerrad Downs in Ontario, and Heather Bonynge in Saskatchewan.

These YACCtivists are out in their communities, talking about what it means to be a young adult with cancer, and unleashing the YACC Cancer Challenge–a program for high schools geared toward communicating a message of hope, inspiration, and the power to overcome challenges in life.

Read on to learn more about the YACCtivists, and make sure to check out our programs and catch up on the latest YACC news!

Gerrad Downs

Gerrad was diagnosed with an anaplastic oligodendroglioma in 2011 when he was 24, and had a recurrence at 28. He is currently completing a second treatment cycle. He hopes that his story and message is that despite the challenges that come our way in life, there is always a way to move forward.
