Localife Toronto: Yoga and bbq, Localife styleMay 28, 2014
On a beautiful Saturday afternoon on May 24, a group of young adult cancer survivors came together to test out their flexibility, downward dogs, and planks. The activity was accompanied by soothing music and relaxation breathing at the beginning and the end of class. The room was full, and you were lucky if you didn’t get a foot in your stomach or an arm in your face while doing some of these poses!
Once again, Localife Toronto had many new members attend the yoga session, and since the BBQ was not quite ready after the class, we headed back into the yoga room for a quick game of “Who am I?” This quickly broke the ice, and everyone was enjoying themselves and mingling by the time we headed to the kitchen for food.
The highlight for the Localife leaders was a surprise visit by Laurie H. from the Ottawa chapter. Thanks for setting it up, Anne Marie C.! The event couldn’t have been successful without the voluntary help of some great supporters, Adolfo M. and Garrett H. and anyone else who we might have missed. A big thank you to Christine Reeves who regularly teaches yoga at Wellspring Downtown for leading our yoga class. Another big thanks to Barb and Wellspring Westerkirk for lending us their venue, and to Kelly, facilitator of the young adult cancer support group at wellspring, for attending.
Thanks again to all who attended!
