Athletics NorthEAST wanted to do something in honour of Jeff Penton, a member of the local running community who died from cancer in spring 2018. This year, instead of using a portion of the registration fee from the Mews 8k to purchase gifts for some of the racers, they donated $5 for each runner to Young Adult Cancer Canada (YACC).
This $2,175 donation will more than cover the costs for one young adult affected by cancer to attend one of our four-day events where they will gain tools and resources to live and love life after cancer, as well as a supportive community that will be there for them as they live with, through, and beyond their experience.
HUGE thank yous to everyone who took part yesterday, as well as to Jeff MacDonald and the Athletics NorthEAST crew who made the decision to support our cause. Every cancer, every stage, YACC has the backs of young adults dealing with cancer, but we can only do that because groups like yours have ours.
