Brave Brunch raises over $87k

The 2020 Brave Brunch took place at Landwash Brewery on November 8, 2020 from 11-2 p.m. Originally scheduled to take place back in May 2020, this private and intimate affair celebrated Mark Dobbin’s efforts to bring awareness and support to thousands of young adults living with, though and beyond cancer throughout Canada — an effort that has been growing on Mark’s head since January!

While Mark prepared to embark on the most powerful haircut he has ever had, Brave Brunchers enjoyed upbeat live music from local artist and young adult cancer survivor Paul Brace, delicious food by Todd Perrin and his talented crew from Mallard Cottage, all washed down with Landwash’s refreshing pints brewed on site.

As attendees fed their bellies, YACC executive director Geoff Eaton and YACCers Paul Brace and Jenn Ryan warmed hearts with thought-provoking conversation and YAC Prime data on what it means to be diagnosed with cancer as a young adult just when independent life is starting.

Brave Brunch attendees joined Mark’s efforts to support this often forgotten generation by participating in a live auction event bidding on items that were equally delicious and fun!

This warm event wrapped up leaving Mark Dobbin a little cooler after letting Geoff Eaton shave it all in support of YACC and the community it supports. Collectively Mark, his supporters, auction donors, and Brave Brunch attendees helped raise more than $87,000!

Special gratitude to all those who made this event possible.

Gratitude to Mark and his family; YACC’s Board of Directors; all Brave Brunch attendees; Landwash; Mallard Cottage; Rocket Bakery; Universal Corporate Wear; Comfort Inn; Shave for the Brave 2020 partners CIBC, Browning Harvey Ltd., The Newfoundland Herald, OZFM, and NTV; and all auction donors:

Mark’s online fundraising page will remain open for the rest of 2020! Click here to donate!
