Day 4

Hello there friends from all over, it’s finally me writing to let you know that I’m still kickin’. It’s the evening and I have slept much of the day. The transplant went well, and my doctor’s have informed me that things are going well. I haven’t been feeling very well over the past few days, no energy and lots of nausea, but that is to be expected. My mouth is pretty sore, so I am not eating anything, which is also reasonable as I am getting my “meals” via IV. My hospital room is really nice and most of my Nurses are exceptional.

Not sure how much you all know about the transplant and the process but I’ll give you the brief details. The transplant took 3 hours, from 3:50 to 6:50 p.m. EST. I was injected with 1.2 litres of my Dad’s marrow, which looks like blood. I was awake the whole time and sitting comfortably in my hospital bed, the same bed I am sitting in right now. Since that time I have had a series of ‘discomforts’ and haven’t really felt up too much. I’ll leave it there for now, hang with me over the next while as I don’t know how often I will write. I will do my best to keep you updated on my condition and progress.

Thanks to everyone for writing and sending your thoughts, they were very comforting. Stay tuned….

Geoff
