Give young adult cancer survivors a "passion for life" this holiday season

The holiday season is a busy time for many as they make sure everything is checked off their lists. It is also a time to reflect on the past year, and let family and friends know how thankful you are for them. We want you to know that this holiday season we are thankful for you.
Becky MacLean Your support over the past year meant more young adults with cancer than ever were able to connect with another young adult who truly “gets” them. Their connection with Young Adult Cancer Canada (YACC) will be full of opportunities to help them make the rest of their life the best of their life.
This year, many young adults like Becky will have wishes on their lists that they would not have imagined. Becky was diagnosed with Hodgkin’s Lymphoma in 2002 when she was 17-years-old. She had a lot of love and support from her family and friends, but she still struggled with fatigue, loneliness, and a fear of the unknown.
Becky found YACC after helping a friend with a book on young adult cancer survivors. Gift bags at the book launch contained pamphlets and information about available services for young adults dealing with cancer. She then registered to attend Survivor Conference that fall.
“That conference changed my life in so many wonderful ways. I met other people who felt uncertain, guilty and alone. I shared pieces of my experience for the first time ever, and in doing so found a supportive, caring community of people with compassion and understanding,” said Becky. “I have attended other YACC events since then and continue to learn and grow with each of those experiences. I have found passion in my life again, and pursue it actively. I feel capable and confident of living a fulfilling life; something that once upon a time was a dream I had forgotten.”
With your continued support this holiday season, we will be able to provide more young adults like Becky with a renewed sense of self-confidence and “passion for life.”
Wishing you and your loved ones a wonderful holiday season,
Always…
Live life. Love life.
Geoff
