Localife St. John’s had a whale of a time in Bay Bulls!

For our large event this year, Localife St. John’s got off the island and went for a boat tour in beautiful Bay Bulls!

In true Newfoundland fashion, we started off with a drizzly and foggy July day for our boat tour, but that didn’t put a damper on the fun!

Eighteen survivors and supporters (and one mini supporter!) went out on the water with O’Brien’s Whale and Bird Tours, and the trip did not disappoint! We had over two hours of fresh sea air, wonderful company, and GREAT sights! We saw humpbacks, minkes, and fin whales — watching them spout and dive into the water was breathtaking!

As we approached Gull Island, we were delighted to see tonnes of sweet Atlantic puffins, as well as lots of common murres, a few rarer thick-billed murres and numerous groups of black-legged kittiwakes — some with their babies!

It was definitely a time together that won’t soon be forgotten!
