I was diagnosed with stage IV laryngeal cancer in 2006 at age 18. Now 12 years in remission, I am currently completing my PhD. in Medical Science, specializing in AYA psychosocial oncology, at the University of Calgary. My main area of research interest relates to psychosocial outcomes of the cancer experience including body-image, self-esteem, social engagement, physical activity, and quality of life among AYA cancer patients and survivors, with a particular focus on intervention development and implementation. I am highly motivated and very passionate about my work, and through my research and advocacy I hope to help other AYAs navigate cancer.
