Story Time Again – March 12th – 6:33 p.m.

It’s the afternoon and I’m waiting to get out of here and head to see another hockey game. I was told I was able to go today after receiving platelets and red cells, which was fine.

Story: Platelets only take 15 minutes anyway so that wasn’t a problem they were dropped in first around lunch time, but from there I had to wait for red cells. There were delays and delays and time went by. My game starts at 5 and red cells usually take an average of 2 hours per bag, I get 2 bags plus transition time so all in about 4.5 hours. That said I have had them over 8 hours, which was brutal. Anyway as I have said in the past I have observed my Nurses do their thing and it really isn’t rocket science. And one of my Nurses has told me that he has managed to finish a bag of red cells in 45 minutes. So considering I broke one record yesterday, although it is not one I will brag about, I figured maybe today I can break another. I had the motivation, as I really wanted to get to the game before it starts, as I’m not aloud on the bench due to yesterday’s suspension. So I dumped the first bag of red cells in about 35 minutes and we are presently just over half way through my second bag, as I look to set a new land speed record for Red Cell injection on 4 North A. Don’t worry gang I’m feeling good and ready to claim the title.

Needless to say I will hopefully spend the next many days at home and with some luck I’ll be hospital free for a while. Of course I will still be in everyday for blood and a drug named GCSF, which helps my white cells come back faster.

Have a good one and I will write again soon.
