On July 7, Localife Ottawa held its last event of the season and headed to Absolute Comedy for some laughs.
The turnout was amazing and was our biggest group of the year — even surpassing sugar shack attendance! (Crazy, right?!).
We first descended on the Heart & Crown for some food and drinks and kept the food rolling out with nachos and pub platters to make sure we had full bellies for what would definitely be a late night. We had our fill, and made our way across the street to the venue. We got our prime seats early and continued our conversations before the show started.
Awkward moment of the night:
As we were sitting there chatting away, two guys came by selling tickets for a 50/50 draw. They were raising money for a cancer run. The awkwardness was just too much as we sat in awkward silence and awkward laughter.
The host for the night was the amazing Dred Lee and the headliner was Bryan O’Gorman. They were both hilarious and left us all laughing until our full stomachs hurt.
Afterwards, we headed downstairs to the bar and had some drinks and played some pool until the wee hours of the evening.
It was a fantastic end to one of our best Localife seasons yet. We reached 90 survivors this year — 11 being brand new contacts. We were able to introduce some brand new events (NHL Sens game, pub night), bring back some events we hadn’t done in a while (holiday potluck, mini putt), and continue some yearly traditions (sugar shack, winterlude).
Next year we hope to bring our community some more great events! Stay tuned for our 2016/17 calendar of events sometime in either late August or early September!

Chris and Meghan
